The 6th International Biennial of Painting and Unique Fabric – Colours and Textures - Gdynia 2011 is another edition
of a competition organized for professional artists from Poland and abroad. It aims at reviewing contemporary possibilities of artistic creation in various techniques used in painting and unique fabric. We expect artworks of eminent artistic values seeking new untypical solutions rejecting commercial demands.
RULES
Only professional artists – graduates of higher artistic schools, excluding bachelors, may participate in the Biennial.
1. Competitors may submit up to two (two of painting and two of unique fabric) previously non-awarded works, made during last two years. The minimum size of works is 100 x 70cm and the maximum size is 300 x 200cm, but 250 x 200 for the works which cannot be folded up. Multimedia objects and installations are excluded.
2. The works will be qualified on the basis of photos sent-in on digital data carriers (CD), photo size up to 1500 pixels along the longer side and the resolution of 72 dpi, JPG file-format.
For the printing of the catalogue, please enclose a CMYK colour version, sized 18x18cm, TIFF or JPG file format,
of the resolution of 300 dpi. The CD must be described with the author’s name and titles of works. The photos must be good quality (colour, focus, contrast) – as they will be used (with no fee payable) as illustrations for the printed catalogue. The works should be shown on neutral background. Sent-in data carriers are not returnable. Participants are also expected to send in their digital passport photo and biographical information in electronic version (circa 50 words)
to be published in the catalogue.
4. The entry form should be sent along with a photocopy of the paying-in slip for the amount of, respectively:
- artists from Poland - 100 PLN for works in one category; or PLN 150 for works in both categories;

These monies will be used to cover organisational expenses and printing of the catalogue. The paid-in amount is not returnable should one fail to qualify for the exhibition.
5. The works should be delivered framed and prepared for hanging. We will appreciate any description of the suggested manner of display. Each work must have an identification label fixed at the back of the work which should contain:
the author’s name, the tile of work, technique, size, date of making and value.
Failure to meet the aforementioned conditions will disqualify a particular work from the competition.
The filled-in and signed entry forms, the described CDs with photos of works, and the paying-in slips (photocopy) should be sent by 10.06.2011 to the following address:

6. The organisers have divided the competition into two stages:
Stage 1 - 15.06.2011, the jury appointed by the organisers shall review all photos
sent-in on electronic data carriers and shall select the works for the final competition.
The finalists will be notified of the results of jury’s deliberations and asked to either send in the works or deliver them personally. The qualified works must be delivered on 11-12.08.2011 for the address: Museum of the City of Gdynia
ul. Zawiszy Czarnego 1, 81-374 GDYNIA, POLAND.
Stage 2 -18.08.2011, the jury will make the final review and subsequently shall grant awards and distinctions.
The jury’s decisions are final and indisputable.
The results of jury’s deliberations shall be announced to the public on the website http://www.artinfo.pl/profile,
and the authors shall be notified by mail or telephone. The opening of the exhibition and presentation of the awards
will take place on 21.08.2011.
7. The post-competition exhibition will be held from 22.08.2011 to 18.09.2011 in the Museum of the City of Gdynia,
ul. Zawiszy Czarnego 1.
8. The artists should collected their works personally from the Museum on 20-21.09.2011.

FINAL INFORMATION
The works sent-in by mail or a courier company must be well protected. The organisers disclaim any responsibility for possible damage. The condition of works delivered in person, by mail or by a courier company shall be verified by the commission.
Please describe clearly both the outer and inner packaging in order to facilitate the return of works after the exhibition. The works not collected on time shall become the property of the organisers. The organisers reserve the right to publish, with no fee, all the photos entered into the Biennial. Each competitor will receive a free catalogue.
The exhibition will be protected under the museum security system. The organisers disclaim any responsibility for the damage or loss or works.
After the exhibition, the works will be returned within Poland by postal service or a courier company at the author’s expense, cash on delivery. Normally the parcels will be sent as non-value items or, at the author’s explicit request,
the works will be sent as valuable items at the author’s expense.
The works of foreign authors shall be sent back by Polish Mail at the organiser’s expense (with no insurance). Pursuant to Polish Mail conditions, a parcel cannot exceed 140 cm in length, 15 kg in weight and 200 cm. in diameter.
